Frequently Asked Questions
What happens during a treatment?
The first session includes a detailed consultation where we will discuss your medical history, your reasons for reflexology and some diet and lifestyle questions. Consent forms are signed. All data and information is stored securely and I never share this data to third parties. This should take about half an hour.
Foot reflexology is a very easy treatment to receive as only shoes and socks are removed. The treatment generally lasts an hour.
What clothing should I wear?
I only remove your shoes and socks during the treatment. You don't need to bring any change of clothes. Something comfortable with loose fitting trousers is ideal.
How will I feel after the treatment?
Reflexology can affect people differently. Most people tend to feel relaxed with a good sense of calm and wellbeing after a reflexology session, other people may feel energised or emotional. However, there may be times people report feeling lethargic, nauseous or tearful or an emotional low. As with other complementary therapies it may be that your condition gets worse before it gets better. These are all positive reactions and all part of the body's healing process.
Will I feel any pain during my treatment?
Reflexology should not be painful. However, where there is congestion on the feet you may feel some discomfort. Tenderness or sensitivity can be an indication that more work is needed on that area of the foot. When areas of sensitivity are found, a lighter pressure is applied to suit the individual. As the area is worked the sensitivity diminishes.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the individual's needs. A treatment plan will be discussed with you - each plan is tailored to each individual depending on reasons for seeking reflexology, affordability and what you would like to get out of reflexology treatments.
Most people find some benefits after a couple of treatments - a typical course usually lasts for six sessions. Regular maintenance treatments prove popular for some people if they are just feeling a bit imbalanced or stressed.
