My name is Katie Howling and I am a fully qualified and insured clinical and maternity reflexologist based in Weston, Lincolnshire close to Spalding, Holbeach, Bourne, Stamford and surrounding villages.
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive holistic treatment that encourages the body to balance and heal itself. It is based on the principle that all the systems of the body are mapped out in reflex points predominantly on the feet and hands. Your feet mirror your body - left side on the left foot , right side on the right foot. Each part of the body and every bodily function has its own related spot on the feet called a reflex point.
When energy currents that flow through the longitudinal zones build up at certain points, they create an accumulation of energy or blockage at these points. Referred to as energy blocks, they interrupt the smooth flow of energy throughout the body causing pain, disorder, disease or whatever problems which require healing.
During a treatment, gentle pressure is applied to the corresponding area using a wide range of techniques, increasing blood flow and allowing the body to heal itself.
Reflexology has the potential to influence the whole body and help with a number of issues. It is suitable for all ages and almost anyone can benefit.
What are the Benefits of Reflexology?
As holistic practitioners, we are here to support you as a whole person and promote your well-being.
Following illness, stress, injury or disease, the body is in a state of "imbalance". Reflexology can help restore balance and encourage healing and improve general health and well-being.
Reflexology acknowledges that every person is unique, and so it is not possible to know in advance how you will react to a treatment. However, people do feel very relaxed, may sleep better and notice a feeling of improved mood.
You do not need to have a presenting condition to benefit from reflexology. This beautiful, relaxing therapy helps you unwind, de-stress and rejuvinate!
Reflexology for Stress
For many of us, modern lifestyles mean we are all too often under periods of long term stress. It is the long term stress that can wear us down, leaving us mentally drained and physically exhausted. Reflexology can help reduce stress levels and some people find that sleep patterns are restored, their mood is improved and they feel more positive about their general well-being. Reflexology can help relieve tension within the body and can reduce anxiety.
Maternity Reflexology
With an appropriately qualified maternity reflexologist, maternity reflexology is a safe and supportive therapy and can help deal with the physical, emotional and hormonal changes of pregnancy and childbirth. The techniques used are very gentle and calming and can help the expectant mother to connect with her baby. Regular treatments may help ease any side effects or discomfort. Reflexology works to keep your body in balance and is great for reducing stress and aiding relaxation.
Reflexology may help with the following pregnancy related conditions:-
- Morning sickness
- Fluid retention
- Constipation
- Heartburn
- Backache
- Fatigue & tiredness
Although reflexology is considered safe during pregnancy for the majority of women, there are some conditions where reflexology is not advisable. It is therefore important that reflexology is given by a practitioner who has specific training in this special area.
As a qualified reflexologist, I do not claim to diagnose, prescribe or cure any complaints or illnesses
Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage was traditionally used by Indian women who believed it would keep their hair healthy and lustrous. A "champi" was an invigorating scalp massage designed to stimulate and refresh the individual. The word "shampoo" comes from the Hindu word "champ" meaning "massage of the head". Over the years the Indian Head Massage has changed to include:-
- massage of the face, neck, upper arms and shoulders - the areas that accumulate high levels of stress and tension
- work on the 3 higher chakras (energy vortices) - crown chakra, third eye chakra and throat chakra
When these 2 elements were added to traditional Indian Head Massage an holistic treatment was created to effectively help relax your mind, body and soul and to help balance your energy and reduce stress and tension.
If you are looking for a soothing, energising massage treatment, Indian Head Massage is for you!
